Smocking is a process of making decorative top stitches over uniform rows of pleats. When the decorative stitching is done by hand on the yoke, bodice or waistline of a dress, the garment created is boutique quality. At Remember Nguyen machines are only used to pregather the fabric; thus, insuring uniform pleats for the hand needlework. The needle artisans then take over and using any of a combination of cable stitches, outline stitches, honeycomb stitches, wave stitches, daisy stitches, bullion stitches and French knots create the lovely designs you see on our garments. Machine stitching cannot duplicate the look and quality of the hand stitch-work, which set our garments apart.
